Pokémon: The First Movie
Story Plot & Spoilers!

"Pokémon: The First Movie" is now available on DVD and VHS.

Pokémon: The First Movie was a great movie. Basically, the plot is that Giovanni (the leader of Team Rocket) funds a project where a team of scientists on an island laboratory want to try to clone Mew from a genetic sample they took from a fossil. In the scientist's attempts, Giovanni insists that they also genetically enhance the Mew clone to be much more powerful than Mew. After many tries fail, they finally create an enhanced clone of Mew . They name their new cloned Pokémon, Mewtwo.

The scientists inform Mewtwo that he is a clone of Mew and that he will be the subject of further experiments and tests. This news makes Mewtwo angry because he feels being the subject of tests must not be his only purpose in life. Mewtwo becomes spiteful and proceeds to destroy the lab.

Receiving last minute news of Mewtwo's rage, Giovanni rushes over to the wrecked island to convince Mewtwo to join his quest of controlling the world. Mewtwo agrees to Giovanni terms, only to later discover that Giovanni wants to control him, too. The angry Pokémon then destroys Giovanni's training center as well.

Returning to the island where the old lab used to be, Mewtwo builds another cloning lab and invites Pokémon trainers around the world to come. He then, however, creates a fierce storm with his psychic power that only the best trainers can cross to reach him. Ash & friends plus  a few other trainers manage to make it through the storm.

When Ash & company arrive, they are greeted by a "psyched out" Nurse Joy who is being controlled by Mewtwo. They go into Mewtwo's lair, and end up battling Mewtwo's clones of Venusaur, Wartortle, and Charizard. After they lose the match, Mewtwo steals all of their Pokémon by sending out special PokéBalls to catch them. Ash follows his captured Pokémon down one of the capturing tubes, which leads him into Mewtwo's cloning machine. He...

destroys the machine by struggling to regain his captured Pikachu. Before he destroyed the machine, however, it was able to make clones of all of his Pokémon, as well as the other trainers' Pokémon.

Ash recovers all of the other Pokémon, and challenges Mewtwo's new army of clones with his army of original Pokémon. Mew makes himself known at this point, (he hid throughout the beginning of the movie) and battles Mewtwo while the other Pokémon fight.

The creatures duke it out, until a point, where they are so exhausted, it is impossible for them to go on. Pikachu, realizing how wrong this all is, refuses to fight his clone any longer, only to have the clone continue to slap him on his electric sacks. Ash is determined to stop the fighting, and runs between Mew and Mewtwo's psychic blasts. The power of the blasts turns him to stone. Pikachu is shocked and horrified that he has lost his friend forever, and runs over to him. Pikachu tries to shock him awake, but without success. He realizes that his friend is gone forever and begins to cry. The rest of the Pokémon realize that a human has died to stop the evil fighting, and they begin to cry as well. Their tears show that they contain a magic power by swirling around Ash and transforming him back to his human self. Pikachu is relieved and hugs Ash. Mewtwo sees the good in the human and Pokémon heart, and goes off the learn what "others already know so well...", and sets time back so nothing really happened.

Touching, isn't it?
